About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for assisting in the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. This position is responsible for processing compensation for W2 and 1099 physicians and registering and maintaining payroll taxes in an HRIS system.
The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent numerical skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a payroll team.
Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing: Assist in processing biweekly or semi-monthly payroll for employees, including data entry, timekeeping, and calculation of wages and deductions.
- Verification: Verify timekeeping records and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to hours worked.
- Benefit Administration: Assist with the administration of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other deductions.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure accurate calculation and timely submission of payroll taxes, including federal, state, and local withholding. 2 entities spanning ~45 states.
- Reporting: Generate payroll reports as needed.
- Communication: Address employee inquiries related to payroll, taxes, and deductions promptly and professionally.
- Record Keeping: Maintain organized and secure payroll records in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Compliance: Stay current with federal and state payroll laws and regulations to ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- At least two years of related experience required
- Ability to correctly register and audit local, state, SIT and SUI payroll taxes
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and HRIS systems
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and provide exemplary customer service via verbal and written means with internal customers in a diverse and distributed team environment
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively under deadlines and self-manage multiple projects simultaneously
