About the Role
Equip is seeking an experienced Financial Counselor who will be responsible for assisting patients and their families in understanding Equip’s insurance coverage, billing process, payment plans, and any aspects of the patient financial account. Financial Counselors serve as a liaison between patients, supports, care team members and insurance plans to provide a primary point of contact related to patient financial responsibility and provide an unparalleled, cohesive service experience. Financial Counselors are also responsible for service recovery, conducting reactive outreach in response to complaints or concerns related to billing concerns in order to problem-solve and ensure patients remain engaged in treatment and finances do not present a barrier to ongoing care.

Responsibilities
Answer patients’ billing questions succinctly and within an average of 24 hours.
Assist patients in understanding their benefits information.
Set up and track payment plans.
Ensure weekly, monthly, and quarterly department goals are met.
Represent Equip Health professionally and with a positive attitude.
Comply with all elements within HIPAA and the Privacy Act.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years experience working in a financial counseling, medical billing, or insurance verification function
Strong billing expertise
Knowledge of HIPAA policies and procedures
Comfort with Technology: Proficient with digital, cloud-based communication and software platforms (Slack, G-suite, Zoom, electronic medical record systems, billing systems)
