Headway is seeking a Director of Revenue Accounting to lead and scale the revenue accounting function. You will focus on complex revenue recognition, ensuring compliance with ASC 606, managing month-end close, building scalable systems, and developing robust policies and procedures. This is a highly cross-functional role partnering with Finance, Legal, Data, Engineering, Product, and other teams on revenue-impacting initiatives. You will also help build out a high-performing revenue accounting team to support Headway’s growth. This role offers a dynamic leader the chance to apply creative thinking and strategic problem-solving to make a lasting impact on Headway’s growth and operations.
You will:
- Oversee the end-to-end revenue accounting function, ensuring compliance with ASC 606, internal policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Provide strategic input and a strong perspective in building scalable revenue systems, bringing your experience with large-scale enterprise revenue models to drive process improvements and streamline revenue accounting operations
- Lead month-end close activities related to revenue and drive continuous improvements
- Prepare for and manage the revenue portion of the financial audit
- Partner cross-functionally on revenue-impacting initiatives to ensure alignment, clear understanding, and effective execution
- Develop and maintain robust revenue accounting policies, procedures and controls
- Help build and mentor a high-performing revenue accounting team, hiring top talent and modeling best-in-class practices
You’d be a great fit for this role if:
- You have 10+ years of accounting experience, including 4+ years focused specifically on revenue recognition at high-growth companies.
- You have at least 5 years of experience managing a team of 2 or more
- You are a CPA with Big 4 or large public accounting firm experience
- You thrive in fast-paced, cross-functional environments and can manage competing priorities
- You are an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- You are a passionate people leader who develops team capabilities for long-term success and inspires high performance
- You have deep expertise in ASC 606, including variable consideration, with the ability to apply technical guidance and operationalize policies, processes, and controls
Compensation & Benefits:
The expected base pay range for this position is $156,400 - $230,000, based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for performance-based variable compensation and an equity grant, depending on the position and level.
