About the Director of Product, LLM Innovation at Headspace:
We are seeking a visionary and execution-focused Director of Product – LLM Innovation to lead our efforts in applying Large Language Models (LLMs) to unlock new product capabilities, elevate user experiences, and drive business value. This role sits at the intersection of product strategy, AI research, and customer impact. You will own the roadmap for LLM-driven innovation, guiding cross-functional teams to explore, validate, and scale cutting-edge generative AI applications.
As the senior product leader in this domain, you will be responsible for translating emerging LLM opportunities into practical product solutions that align with business goals and user needs. This position requires a unique blend of technical fluency, strategic thinking, and product leadership.
What You Will Do
- Own the LLM Innovation Roadmap: Define and execute the vision, strategy, and priorities for LLM-based initiatives across products and platforms.
- Identify and validate opportunities: Partner with research, engineering, and design teams to prototype, experiment, and validate generative AI use cases with measurable impact.
- Deliver user-centric solutions: Translate abstract LLM capabilities into intuitive, valuable user experiences that differentiate our products in the market.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration: Drive alignment with engineering, data science, design, GTM, and operations to ensure timely delivery of initiatives.
- Scale innovation: Build frameworks, best practices, and reusable systems for LLM integration to accelerate product development.
- Evaluate partnerships and tools: Assess external technologies, vendors, and research advancements to inform build vs. buy decisions and accelerate delivery.
- Drive measurable outcomes: Define KPIs, success metrics, and feedback loops for LLM-based features and products, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Inspire thought leadership: Act as a company-wide champion for LLM innovation, staying ahead of the curve on emerging AI trends and translating them into opportunities.
What You Will Bring
Required Skills:
- Proven product leadership: 10+ years in product management with at least 3+ years leading teams or initiatives in AI/ML, preferably with experience in LLMs or generative AI.
- Deep technical fluency: Strong understanding of LLMs, generative AI, NLP, model fine-tuning, and AI/ML product development processes.
- Track record of innovation: Demonstrated success in bringing new technologies from exploration to scalable product impact.
- Strategic thinker and operator: Ability to craft a compelling product vision and execute with discipline, balancing big-picture thinking with tactical delivery.
- User-first mindset: Passion for building products that meaningfully improve user experiences, with a proven ability to translate technical capabilities into customer value.
- Cross-functional influence: Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with a history of aligning diverse stakeholders behind complex, high-impact initiatives.
- Market awareness: Strong grasp of the generative AI landscape, including vendors, research trends, and regulatory considerations.

Impact of the Role
As Director of Product – LLM Innovation, your work will directly shape how generative AI transforms the way our users interact with our products. You will be responsible for identifying breakthrough applications of LLMs that create personalized, scalable, and delightful experiences at a global level. The role will:

Location:
We are currently hiring this role remotely in the US and Hybrid for San Francisco (SF) and Los Angeles (LA). Candidates must permanently reside in the US full-time.
For candidates with a primary residence in the greater SF and LA areas, this role will follow our hybrid model. You’ll work 3 days per week from our office, allowing for impactful in-office collaboration and connection, while enjoying the flexibility of remote work for the rest of the week. Pay & Benefits:
The anticipated new hire base salary range for this full-time position is $180,000 - $287,500 + equity + benefits.
Our salary ranges are based on the job, level, and location, and reflect the lowest to highest geographic markets where we are hiring for this role within the United States. Within this range, individual compensation is determined by a candidate’s location as well as a range of factors including but not limited to: unique relevant experience, job-related skills, and education or training.
