The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Consultant is a licensed Nurse Practitioner certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, who leads the behavioral health aspects of virtual care for individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) that firsthand serves and provides consultative services.
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Consultant is responsible for conducting virtual behavioral health SOAR assessments, driving process improvements, developing protocols, and providing clinical consultation to clinicians. This role reports to the Senior Director of the Shared Clinical Services team.

As a Psychiatric NP Consultant, your responsibilities will include:- Performing 3-12 virtual behavioral health SOAR SOAR (SSDI/SSI Outreach Access and Recovery) disability assessments weekly
- Engaging in 1-5 hours of clinical and operational consulting weekly
- Diagnosing mental health conditions
- Delivering exceptional customer service to individuals with serious mental illness (SMI)
- Assessing both behavioral health conditions through comprehensive history-taking and virtual physical examinations
- Documenting patient histories, mental status exams, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes
- Prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications in compliance with laws and regulations
- Ensuring continuity of care by referring patients to community-based primary and behavioral health providers and specialists as needed.
- Consulting on process improvement, workflows, quality assurance, diagnostic accuracy, appropriate medication prescribing, and case reviews live (by phone) with nurse practitioners and asynchronous through chart reviews

The required experience you bring to this role includes:- 2+ years licensed as a PMHNP-BC in 1 state and willing to get licensed in multiple states
- No past or pending clinical lawsuits or nursing board disciplinary actions
- 1+ years telehealth experience
- Strong background in the diagnosis of psychiatric disorders and psychopharmacological treatments and familiarity with non-pharmacological interventions
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and time management skills
